Troy, Alabama
Camp Butter & Egg offers a unique blend of specialized sports skills (baseball, softball, soccer, etc.) training sessions in combination with traditional leisure activities associated with summer camp--canoeing, challenge courses (low ropes), swimming, and team games to name a few. A privately owned day camp and recreation center, Camp Butter & Egg is located on an inviting, 40-acre setting in Troy, AL just off Butter & Egg Road (thus, the name). Some camp sessions focus on team-building and personal development without attention to specific athletic skills training. Additionally, Camp Butter & Egg can design a mini-camp experience to meet the needs of your particular group. Recreational Opportunities Camp Butter & Egg staff members lead campers in a variety of activities daily. From mini-golf to bocce ball to kickball, traditional games are interspersed with team challenges designed to allow campers to experience different types of recreation. In our 40-acre setting, campers can move easily between waterfront activities such as canoeing and fishing to participating in obstacle courses or cooling off indoors with arts and crafts projects.
Beginning in 2008, Camp Butter & Egg will offer the area’s only ACCT*-designed challenge course complete with low-ropes elements as well as a 35-foot climbing wall. Participants have the opportunity to traverse new terrain and learn how to effectively work as a team member as they maneuver through challenges constructed with poles, cables, balance beams and rope. Campers also continue developing team-building skills through hands-on activities, away from the ropes course, led by well-trained, thoughtful staff members who seek to bring out the best in every participant.
