Low Ropes at Camp

Butter and Egg

The camp’s Low Ropes Program consists of a facilitator-guided experience through a series of activities and initiatives designed to foster teamwork and develop problem-solving skills. Participants walk on cables mounted just off the ground, swing on ropes, traverse through rope mazes, and lift one another over (or through) elements that test their mental, physical, and intellectual capabilities. The program begins with an overview of the day’s activities,

followed by a discussion on safety, an explanation of the “Challenge by Choice” philosophy (people participating at the level in which they are comfortable), agreement on goals to be accomplished, and a few warm-up games designed to establish a comfort level within the group. A minimum of 10 people constitute a low-ropes group, with 12- 15 people being the optimal group size. Debriefing of the events occurs during and after the conclusion of the program to enhance the learning experience of all participants.
